From its stunning architecture to its unique charm, this venue provided the perfect atmosphere for an unforgettable event. Read on to find out more about Julian and Marie's special day and why The Rookery Building is such a special place.

Introduction to Julian and Marie

Julian and Marie are high school sweethearts who have been together for six years. They met their junior year of high school and have been inseparable ever since. Julian is a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, studying mechanical engineering, and Marie is a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, studying fashion design.

The two got engaged last year during a trip to visit Julian's family in Mexico. They were planning on getting married next year, but when Julian's grandfather passed away, they decided to move up the date so that he could be there for the wedding.

The wedding took place at The Rookery Building in Chicago, Illinois. The Rookery is a historic landmark that was built in 1886. It was designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright and is considered one of his most important early works.

The ceremony was held in the grand lobby of the building, with the reception following in one of the private event spaces. The wedding was small, with only close family and friends in attendance.

Julian and Marie chose to do a first look before the ceremony, which we photographed outside on the steps of The Rookery. This was such a special moment for them! After the first look, we did some portraits around The Rookery and then headed inside for the ceremony.

The ceremony was officiated by Julian's uncle and it was so personal and moving. Afterward

The Historic Rookery Building: Setting the Scene

The Historic Rookery Building was originally built in 1885 and is one of the oldest standing high-rise buildings in Chicago. The Rookery's architecture is a perfect example of the late 19th-century Chicago School style. The building's two light courts and grand staircase are especially iconic and have been featured in many films and television shows set in Chicago.

The Rookery is located in the heart of downtown Chicago, just a block away from City Hall. It's convenient location makes it a popular choice for weddings and other special events. The Rookery's ground floor features a beautiful lobby with marble floors and a grand staircase that leads up to the mezzanine level. The mezzanine level features an event space with stunning views of the light court and city skyline. The Rookery's rooftop deck is also a popular choice for weddings and events, offering breathtaking views of downtown Chicago.

Pre-Wedding Preparations and Festivities

It was a beautiful day for a wedding, and Julian and Marie were surrounded by their loved ones as they prepared to tie the knot. The bride and groom each had their own separate suites at The Rookery, where they got ready with their respective wedding parties.

As the bride and her bridesmaids had their hair and makeup done, they enjoyed champagne and laughed together. It was a special moment for the bride to share with her closest friends. Meanwhile, the groom and his groomsmen were getting into their tuxedos and sharing some final words of wisdom before the big day.

Before long, it was time for the ceremony to begin. Julian and Marie met at the altar, where they exchanged heartfelt vows in front of their guests. They sealed their promises with a kiss, and everyone cheered as they were officially pronounced husband and wife!

After the ceremony, everyone made their way to the reception area where they enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres while mingling with other guests. The room was decorated with romantic candles and flowers, creating an enchanting atmosphere.

As dinner was served, Julian and Marie shared their first dance as husband and wife. It was a magical moment that they will always remember. After dinner, there was plenty of dancing, laughter, and love throughout the night. It truly was a magical day that Julian and Marie will cherish forever
